Typical Integration Steps

Overview

This guide explains the typical steps involved in integrating Yari Flow with the frontend of a Shopify store.

For questions about the integration process, contact the Yari Flow Support team at help@yariflow.com.

Before getting started

Merchants joining Yari Flow will usually have discussed the platform and their requirements with a member of the Yari Flow Sales team.

Once you are ready to proceed, the Sales team will send you a Stripe invoice by email. Yari Flow generally bills merchants for recurring payments through Stripe rather than Shopify’s billing API.

After the Stripe invoice has been paid, the Yari Flow Migrations team will add your store to the Merchant Queue for white-glove onboarding.

You will then receive an email listing the items that must be completed before the migration and integration process can begin.

Install the Yari Flow app

Install the Yari Flow app from the Shopify App Store.

You will only pay the Yari Flow invoice through Stripe. The Migrations team will cancel or disable the Shopify app charge for you.

Provide your myshopify.com URL

The Migrations team will need your store’s .myshopify.com URL.

You can find it by:

Your .myshopify.com URL may be different from your store’s public domain.

Provide your collaborator access code

The Migrations team will need your four-digit collaborator access security code to request access to your Shopify store.

You can find it by going to:

Shopify admin > Settings > Users and permissions > Collaborators

Complete the migration onboarding form

The migration onboarding form provides the Migrations team with information about your store, your current subscription setup, and your requirements.

This helps the team:

  • Understand your existing subscription experience
  • Prepare the integration before contacting your team
  • Reduce unnecessary back-and-forth communication
  • Assign the appropriate resources to your store
Complete the SMS verification form

Complete the SMS verification form using your company information.

This allows Yari Flow to send subscription-related SMS notifications to customers on your behalf.

Important All required onboarding steps must be completed before your store can be assigned to a Migrations engineer.

What does the Yari Flow integration include?

The Migrations team handles the Shopify-related work required to get your store ready to sell subscriptions through Yari Flow.

This may include:

  • Configuring subscription products in Yari Flow
  • Adding the Yari Flow Plan Picker to product pages
  • Configuring subscription options and discounts
  • Testing the subscription purchase experience
  • Migrating existing subscribers from another platform, where applicable
Theme access and preparation

The Migrations team will use the collaborator access provided during onboarding to access your Shopify store.

The team will then duplicate and download the Shopify theme identified in your onboarding form. The required Yari Flow code will be added to this duplicated development theme.

Important The Migrations team will not make changes directly to the live Shopify theme that customers are currently using.

Changes will only be published or merged into the live theme after receiving approval from your team.

Theme assessment

When integrating Yari Flow into the theme, the Migrations team has two main responsibilities.

1. Prevent Yari Flow selling plans from appearing prematurely

The team will review the theme code to ensure that Yari Flow selling plans do not appear on the live store before the integration is ready.

Some Shopify themes contain subscription-related code that automatically displays all available selling plans, regardless of which subscription app created them.

The Migrations team will identify and address this behaviour where necessary.

2. Add the Yari Flow subscription experience

The team will add the code required for customers to purchase subscriptions through Yari Flow.

The exact changes and customisations available are defined by the Migrations team’s scope of work.

Subscription product setup

After the Yari Flow code has been added to the theme, the Migrations team will configure your subscription products in Yari Flow.

This involves creating Selling Plan Groups, which determine the subscription options available for selected products.

Selling Plan Groups can control:

  • Which products are available for subscription
  • The discount applied to subscription purchases, such as 10% off
  • The available delivery frequencies, such as every 2, 4, or 6 weeks

Include your preferred subscription configuration in the migration onboarding form.

When moving from another subscription provider, the Migrations team can recreate, or mirror, your existing subscription setup in Yari Flow.

Preview and test purchase

Once the Yari Flow code and selling plans are ready, the Migrations team will send your team a preview of the integration.

Your team will be asked to:

  • Review the Yari Flow Plan Picker
  • Confirm that the design and subscription options are correct
  • Make a test subscription purchase
  • Review the full customer purchase journey

This allows your team to quality-assure both the Plan Picker and the complete subscription checkout experience.

Going live

After your team has reviewed the development theme, completed a test purchase, and approved the customer journey, the integration is ready to go live.

To launch Yari Flow, your team can either:

  • Publish the development theme prepared by the Migrations team
  • Merge the Yari Flow updates into the currently published theme

Once the updated theme is published, customers can begin purchasing subscriptions through Yari Flow.

Migrations team scope of work

The Migrations team can assist with the following areas during the Yari Flow integration.

1. Yari Flow Plan Picker

When moving from another subscription platform, the Migrations team will aim to match the look and feel of the existing subscription widget on the product detail page and cart, where applicable.

When launching subscriptions for the first time, the store will be configured with the default Yari Flow Plan Picker. This can later be customised through the Shopify theme customiser.

Note The Migrations team cannot recreate the login page or My Account from another subscription provider. Yari Flow has its own login and My Account experiences. The Migrations team can also set up Shopify-hosted landing pages containing the Yari Flow Plan Picker, provided that the Plan Picker uses the same design and functionality as the version shown on product pages.

2. Product & Selling plan setup

The Migrations team can configure your Selling Plan Groups in Yari Flow.

When migrating from another platform, the team can recreate the existing product configuration, including:

  • Products available for subscription
  • Subscription discount rates
  • Billing or delivery frequency options

For merchants launching subscriptions for the first time, the team can configure products and subscription options according to the requirements provided during onboarding.

3. Additional Yari Flow features

The Migrations team can help configure:

  • Journeys
  • Rules
  • Free Subscription Shipping
4. Subscription data migration

For merchants moving from another subscription platform, the Migrations team can migrate non-cancelled subscriptions into Yari Flow.

Subscriptions should have valid payment methods attached to support successful future billing.

The team will also help ensure that there is no gap during the transition where customers could continue creating subscriptions through the previous platform.

This helps ensure that the subscription data in Yari Flow is accurate and up to date when the migration is completed.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Will I be charged twice when installing the Yari Flow app?

Yes.

Your team can publish the theme whenever you are ready to launch Yari Flow.
