Payment processing and Yari Flow

Yari Flow does not process payments. Understanding how payments move through your subscription program will help you identify who to contact when something changes with your payment provider.

How payment processing works with Yari Flow

When a subscription order is due, Yari Flow initiates the order through Shopify.

Shopify then sends the charge to your connected payment gateway, which processes the transaction.

Yari Flow does not directly access or store customers’ payment details. Card information and payment tokens are stored by your payment processor and in Shopify’s payment vault.

The payment flow is:

  1. Yari Flow initiates the order
  2. Shopify submits the charge
  3. Your payment gateway processes the payment

What happens when your payment processor changes something?

If your payment processor announces a required upgrade, token migration, service deprecation, or another gateway-related change, your team must work directly with the payment provider.

Yari Flow is not the payment gateway and cannot complete these changes on your behalf.

Common situations that require you to contact your payment provider include:

A gateway upgrade is required

Payment processors may release new versions of their Shopify integration and discontinue older versions.

When this happens, the processor will usually contact you directly and provide instructions for upgrading. Your team must follow those instructions and complete the upgrade before the stated deadline.

Payment tokens must be migrated

A payment processor may require existing payment tokens to be transferred to a new system or gateway version.

This process is managed by the payment provider, rather than Yari Flow or Shopify. Contact the processor’s support team for instructions and assistance.

The gateway is no longer supported by Shopify

If Shopify stops supporting your current gateway for subscription payments, you will need to transfer your subscribers’ payment method data to a compatible gateway.

Once the new gateway is connected to your Shopify store and valid payment methods are available, Yari Flow can continue billing your subscribers.

After completing the required steps with your payment provider, contact the Yari Flow Support team at help@yariflow.com so that they can confirm your customers and subscriptions are configured correctly.

Important If your payment gateway is not upgraded or migrated before the deprecation deadline, subscription charges may begin to fail. Contact your payment provider as soon as you receive notice of a required change.

Frequently asked questions

Does Yari Flow store customers payment information?

No.

Yari Flow does not store customers card details or payment tokens. This information is stored by your payment processor and in Shopify’s payment vault.

When a subscription payment is due, Yari Flow initiates the order through Shopify. Shopify then uses the payment method associated with the customer’s subscription to submit the charge to the connected payment gateway.

My payment processor sent me a required upgrade notice. Do I need to notify Yari Flow?

You do not need to contact Yari Flow before completing the upgrade.

Follow your payment processor’s instructions and complete the required changes before the stated deadline.

If you are unsure whether the upgrade will affect subscription billing through Yari Flow, contact Yari Flow Support at help@yariflow.com. The team can review your setup and help identify any additional steps.

My payment gateway is being deprecated. What happens to my subscribers payment methods?

If your gateway will no longer be supported by Shopify, you must migrate your subscribers’ payment method data to a compatible gateway before the deprecation date.

The payment processor manages this migration. Contact its support team for instructions on transferring or updating the payment tokens.

Once the compatible gateway is connected to Shopify and the payment methods are available, Yari Flow can continue billing subscriptions normally.

Subscription charges are failing. Is Yari Flow causing the issue?

Not necessarily.

Yariflow displays the error code and message returned by Shopify or the payment gateway, but the underlying payment error usually originates from the payment provider.

Review the failed subscription in the Yariflow Dashboard and locate the error message. Share the full error code and message with your payment processor’s support team so that they can investigate.

If the message is unclear or you need help understanding it, contact Yariflow Support at help@yariflow.com.
