Going Live with Yari Flow

Overview

Merchants often have questions about the recommended steps, best practices, and potential issues to consider when launching Yari Flow.

This guide explains the typical process followed by Yari Flow Migrations Engineers when taking a store live and answers common merchant questions about the launch process.

Before going live

After the Yari Flow Plan Picker has been integrated into your store’s product pages, complete the following checks before publishing the Yari Flow changes to your live store.

Test add-to-cart functionality

From a product page, add both a one-time purchase and a subscription purchase to the cart.

For the subscription product, confirm that the selected selling plan has been applied correctly. The subscription frequency should appear in the cart or checkout flow.

Example: Every 1 Month

Test variant switching

If your products have variants, such as different colours, sizes, or flavours, test switching between them on the product page.

Confirm that:

  • The Add to cart button adds the selected variant
  • The correct variant appears in the cart
  • The price shown in the Yari Flow Plan Picker updates when switching between variants with different prices
Confirm access to the Yari Flow My Account

Customers must be able to access the Yari Flow My Account to manage their subscriptions.

The My Account is available at your store’s primary URL followed by: /a/account/login

For example: https://yourstore.com/a/account/login

If you have not yet added a link to the My Account, review the available methods for directing customers to it and choose the option that best fits your store.

Place a test subscription order

This step is optional, but recommended.

A test subscription order allows your team to review the complete customer journey, including:

  • Selecting a subscription option
  • Completing Shopify Checkout
  • Accessing the Yari Flow My Account
  • Managing an active subscription

To place a test order:

  1. Open the Yari Flow preview theme.
  2. Purchase a subscription product as a customer would.
  3. Complete the order through Shopify Checkout.
  4. Go to the Orders page in your Shopify admin.
  5. Cancel and refund the test order if required.

Completing checkout creates a subscription record in Yari Flow, even if the Shopify order is later cancelled or refunded.

You can then log in to the Yari Flow My Account using the email address used for the test order. This allows you to review and test the portal from a customer’s perspective.

Important After testing is complete, cancel the test subscription in the Yari Flow My Account*. Otherwise, it may attempt to bill again on its next scheduled billing date.*

Review onboarding guides and notifications

Before launching, review the Yari Flow onboarding guides and confirm that the features required by your store have been configured.

These may include:

  • Customer notifications
  • Klaviyo integration
  • Cancellation flow
  • Payment recovery and dunning
  • My Account settings
  • Shipping rules
  • Subscription management options

Going live

Once the checks above are complete and your team is ready to begin selling subscriptions, the Yari Flow integration can be published.

There are three common approaches to launching the updated theme.

Publish the Yari Flow theme directly

The standard Yari Flow integration process usually involves duplicating the current live theme and adding the Yari Flow changes to the duplicate.

If no changes have been made to the live theme since it was duplicated, you can publish the Yari Flow theme directly. Because the themes have not diverged, publishing the Yari Flow theme should not overwrite any newer work.

After going live

Once the Yari Flow changes have been published, complete a final round of checks and monitor the store over the following days.

Test the published theme

Even if these checks were completed before launch, repeat them on the published theme.

Confirm that:

  • One-time products can be added to the cart
  • Subscription products can be added to the cart
  • The correct selling plan is applied
  • Variant switching works correctly
  • The Yari Flow Plan Picker displays the correct pricing
  • Customers can access the Yari Flow My Account
Confirm that subscriptions are being created in Yari Flow

New subscription orders may not appear immediately after launch. Monitor the Yari Flow Dashboard for the next few days and confirm that new subscriptions are being created correctly.

If you are moving from another subscription platform, also monitor the previous platform.

Recurring subscription orders may continue to process there before the data migration is completed. However, new customers should no longer be able to create subscriptions through the old platform.

If new subscriptions continue to appear in the previous platform, investigate where they are being created.

Possible causes include:

  • An active widget from the previous subscription provider
  • Legacy subscription code remaining in the theme
  • Third-party apps connected to the previous platform
  • Plugins or integrations that still create old-platform subscriptions
  • Subscription links on landing pages that have not been updated

You may need to disable old-platform plugins or remove remaining references from the theme code.

Contact the Yari Flow Migrations team if you cannot identify how new subscriptions are still being created in the previous platform.

Complete the subscription data migration

If you are moving from another subscription platform, the final stage is migrating your existing subscribers into Yari Flow.

Review the Yari Flow migration guide for details about the process and requirements.

Yari Flow recommends waiting a few days between publishing the integration and completing the data migration. This allows your team and the Migrations team to confirm that new subscription purchases are flowing into Yari Flow correctly before existing subscribers are transferred.

Congratulations on launching with Yari Flow, and welcome to Yari Flow! 🎉
